The Fayetteville Animal Protection Society is teaming up with Tarheel K9-5 Training and Bright Light Brewing Company to host a pet food drive next month.
FAPS is collecting dry and canned dog food, cat food and treats for Project No Empty Bowl, the shelter said in a statement this week.
“The holidays can cause financial stress for many people in our community, and no one should have to choose between feeding their pet and feeding their family,” FAPS Executive Director Jackie Stickley said in the statement. “The people we will serve face a variety of issues, including chronic illness, job loss, domestic violence and disability.”

The food drive will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 12 at Bright Light Brewing Company in downtown Fayetteville.
Donations can be dropped off before the food drive at the no-kill shelter, located at 3927 Bragg Boulevard, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 8 a.m. to noon Sunday and Monday. The shelter also has an Amazon wishlist for food collection, and any food ordered through the link will be delivered directly to FAPS.
âMany cats and dogs go to shelters due to the inability to feed their pets,â Stickley said. âThis pet food drive will help shelters and rescues that are already full and overcrowded, and alleviate the stress of those who are struggling financially to feed their pets. “
