Animal Refuge Center in North Fort Myers prepares to open new medical center

The Animal Refuge Center in North Fort Myers is the largest deathless refuge in Southwest Florida, and there are just a few months left to open a new, state-of-the-art medical center to continue helping our friends to fur.

The current shelter center medical facility on the property is small, so they are building a brand new one that will allow them to ensure all of their animals are looked after.

The Animal Refuge Center said it typically looked after more than 300 dogs and cats at a time. This includes animals that are seeking adoption and in need of rehabilitation or that may be ill and need care for the rest of their lives.

Adding the new hospitality and healthcare facility to their property on Old Bayshore Road is going to make a huge difference in what they can do.

The shelter said it would give them the space to give the animals the surgeries they need, quarantine them and perform regular health checks.

Animal Refuge Center vice chairman of the board, Rob Spicker, said, “Right now we’re just tight and we’re tight and it’s tough. And we move the animals from one building to another while they recover or prepare and with this new facility they can all be under one roof. All the while, we can prepare them for surgery, and they can recover all in one space. “

The new medical center will open early next year.

If you are interested in adopting a pet, they have a lot of cats and dogs that need loving homes.

The Animal Shelter Center also depends on donations to stay operational.

It is their only source of income and so far it has allowed them to grow and expand to meet the needs.

Their biggest fundraiser, the starlight auction, was held at the Marriott Sanibel Harbor Resort and Apa on Saturday.

All the money raised is intended to support needy homeless pets and animal surgeries at the new medical center which is expanding and will be fully open early next year.

“We can’t do anything without them. And they allow us to take care of the animals that are there and bring in animals that are in desperate need of care. Over the years, the Animal Refuge Center has brought animals to our facility that no other place would take due to the condition they were in and we would take our chances with them, ”said Spicker.
